ShareLadies and Gentlemen, Dear Guests,Where knowledge and intentions come together – this is the slogan of the University of Szeged that sums up the mission of this cultural and scientific centre of the Dél-Alföld region (the southern part of the Great Hungarian Plain. The University of Szeged is a place where will and possibilities may come together and where knowledge is coupled with the need for development. We are proud that our university, being a flagship of development, is a knowledge centre with noble qualities. Its performance commands respect in the world of science both domestically and abroad.
The reputation of the University of Szeged, with 30,000 students and 7,000 employees, stems from both the innovative teaching and research activities and the special milieu that characterizes the university. After all, it is primarily for the youth. For the future scientists, inventors, Noble-prize winners, artists and sportspersons who receive here the inspiring education that helps them achieve their goals. Albert Szent-Györgyi's former workplace still holds the fascination of the personality of this brilliant scientist as well as the mission which thinks of science as being both rational and humane. After the integration in Szeged's tertiary education in 2000, the University of Szeged offering education in almost all disciplines now possesses all those capabilities to ensure that its students acquire comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge – by preserving the heritage but sometimes even crossing the traditional borders of different areas of science.
