Sports Medicine Service Launched at SZTE

Sports medicine consulting is now available at the University of Szeged. Students are asked to fill out a survey that hopes to help keep exercising safe and to improve students' health-conscious behavior.

The survey, in which the Department of Sports Medicine of SZTE examines risk factors related to sports, can be found and filled out on MODULO.

Those attending SZTE’s sports courses have already started filling out the survey. The organizers ask every university student that does sports to test themselves and help this initiative.

Students for whom exercising might be risky based on the survey can attend a free sports medicine consultation after making an appointment. The initiative is unique in Hungary and it is aimed to motivate students in doing sports in an injury-free way and to improve their health-conscious behavior.

SZTE Experience

I’m from Ecuador and a Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship holder in my second year. I chose University of Szeged because of its highly ranked status in Hungary. I like the generosity of the people and the fantastic university facilities. The student environment is very relaxing, and you learn a lot from the cultural diversity. The student mentors are helpful. Professors and members of faculty staff are very approachable to guide and support you with academic challenges. Life in Szeged is exciting, and my favorite spot is the bank of Tisza River. The landscape of the bridge across the river and the beachside perspective is a beauty. I do enjoy the good academic system, and friendly environment.

I heard about Stipendium Hungaricum from a fellow countryman. I would love to teach at a university one day, but a Doctorate degree is often required in order to do so. That is why I came to Szeged, where I am currently working on my doctoral thesis in educational science – my special field of interest is scientific literacy of students. Life is completely different in Namibia; it is mostly a rural country and agriculture is still hardly mechanised and many homesteads in villages in the countryside are built of wood. The weather is totally different from the one in Szeged, the cold and icy weather caught me by surprise after returning from Christmas holiday, I didn’t have proper shoes so my feet were constantly freezing.
