Description of the programme: The aim of the programme is to train experts with a comprehensive knowledge of theoretical and practical issues of Spanish studies and general topics of humanities and social sciences, enabling them to pursue their profession in a multifaceted, inter- and multidisciplinary way.
The courses provide thorough theoretical and practical knowledge and prepare students for participation in MA programmes in Spanish studies. Graduates of the programme are trained in the following: using spoken and written Spanish at an advanced level; proficiency in the Spanish language, knowledge of the countries and cultures of the Spanish - peaking world; general methodologies of Spanish studies; creative applications of their knowledge in liaising between cultures; practical applications of their knowledge in the media, cultural life and the tourism industry. In addition to Spanish language training (based on skills such as reading, writing, listening, presentation techniques and grammar), the programme offers a wide variety of courses in literature, linguistics, history and cultural studies, approaching these through a whole range of subject areas (such as media studies, semiotics, theoretical and applied linguistics, general and social history, and gender studies).
