Description of the programme: The aim of the comprehensive teaching programme is to train experts capable of understanding, explaining and researching all types of practical and theoretical questions in French studies (language, literature, civilisation, culture, communication, translation).

Courses consist of 4 academic semesters. This programme, offering two specialisations in French linguistics and French literature and civilisation, is aimed at training experts in French with a profound knowledge of the culture, history and political systems of French-speaking countries. Special emphasis is placed on the effort to assist students in developing skills necessary for self-study, life-long learning and self-management.

The programme covers the same elements of French language, literature and culture as the programmes of universities in France (Theory and Analysis of French Literature; Theoretical and Applied Approaches of Linguistics, French Aesthetics, Contemporary French Literature and Civilisation, French Philosophy) and preparing students for PhD-programmes in French Studies of all the countries of the European Union.

• Application requirements: BA diploma of Romance Studies, French language – C2 proficiency level French language examination, with the option of a preparatory course at the University or at the Alliance Française of Szeged
