At the opening event of the 2019/20 season, IATEFL Creative Café hosts Beatrix Price (ELTE), an experienced teacher and teacher trainer, who invites us to explore aspects of teaching young learners and upper primary pupils.
Movement And Games in the (Interactive) Class - MAGIC: We are not magicians but we can bring some MAGIC into the EFL classroom. With movement and games, songs and rhymes we can engage our learners, help serve their physical development and support flexible, mobile thinking. With different low- and high-energy level activities we can maintain good discipline, create an ideal framework for the lesson and optimise timing to achieve lesson objectives. We can develop our learners’ fine and gross motor skills through movement, their imagination through role-play and their social competence through group and pair work. Second language acquisition is a fairly long but delightful journey for the child, full of excitement and challenge, from movement to understanding, from a global, universal totality to individual mastery.
