135 ösztöndíjas külföldi hallgatót fogad az SZTE

Január 28. és február 1. között rendezik a külföldi hallgatóknak szóló, az SZTE Nemzetközi Mobilitási Iroda által szervezett orientációs hetet a Szegedi Tudományegyetemen. A most érkezett fiatalok a következő napokban megismerkednek majd a várossal, a Szegedi Tudományegyetemmel, annak életével, beiratkoznak az őket fogadó karokra, kapcsolatba kerülnek a többi országból érkezett külföldivel és a szegedi életüket segítő magyar egyetemistákkal (az EHÖK Külügyi Bizottságának mentoraival és az Erasmus Student Network Szeged önkénteseivel), valamint tanszéki koordinátoraikkal.

 

Mint az u-szeged.hu megtudta: a tavaszi szemeszterben összesen 18 ország 60 városa 68 egyetemének 128 hallgatója folytatja felsőfokú tanulmányait Erasmus-ösztöndíjjal az SZTE-n. Közülük 86 diák most ül be az intézmény padjaiba, 42 fő pedig az első félévben is itt tanult. A legtöbben Törökországból és Franciaországból jöttek – előbbiből 37, utóbbiból 18 hallgató, a harmadik helyen pedig Spanyolország áll ezen a listán 17 fővel. A következő hónapokban több romániai, olasz, bolgár, szlovákiai, német, lengyel és finn hallgatótársat is kapnak a szegedi egyetemisták, de Görögország, Norvégia és Litvánia is képviselteti magát 2-2, valamint Belgium, Csehország, Észtország, Lettország és Portugália 1-1 diákkal. Az intézmény 9 kara fogad diákokat ebben a félévben. Közülük a legtöbben a Bölcsészettudományi és a Juhász Gyula Pedagógusképző Karon végzik majd tanulmányaikat (25-25 fő) a fakultások kétoldalú kapcsolatainak köszönhetően, azután az Általános Orvostudományi Kar (18 fő), a Mérnöki Kar (17 fő), az Állam- és Jogtudományi, valamint a Természettudományi és Informatikai (15-15 fő), a Gazdaságtudományi Kar (10 fő), az Egészségtudományi és Szociális Képzési Kar (9 fő) és a Zeneművészeti Kar (1 fő) következik a sorban. Mellettük a TADD (Transatlantic Dual Degree) program keretében 7 hallgatót lát vendégül a szegedi universitas az USA-beli Washburn Egyetemről.

 

Az orientációs héten részt vevő külföldi fiatalok elmélyülhetnek Szeged múltjában, az egyetem történetében, emellett pedig megismerhetik, mi vár rájuk az SZTE-n, mi fán terem az ETR és a diákigazolvány, milyen kurzusokat kell elvégezniük a Tisza-parti universitason, s milyen jogaik és kötelezettségeik lesznek tanulmányaik során. Az Erasmus- és TADD-ösztöndíjasokat Pál József, az SZTE nemzetközi és közkapcsolati rektorhelyettese is köszöntötte a január 30-i központi tájékoztató rendezvényen.

 

A professzor elmondta: az Erasmus-programba 15 évvel ezelőtt, 1998-ban kapcsolódott be Szeged, akkor 8 külföldi hallgató érkezett ide, s szerencsére ez a szám folyamatosan növekszik. – Egyetemünk felvállalt missziója a fokozott nemzetközi aktivitás, célunk, hogy egyre több külföldi hallgatót és oktatót vonzzunk ide, ezzel a különböző kultúrák találkozóhelyévé is tegyük a várost és felsőoktatási intézményünket. Örömmel mondhatom a most érkezetteknek, jól döntöttek, mikor bennünket választottak: azt az universitast, melynek egykoron a Nobel-díjas biokémikus, Szent-Györgyi Albert is oktatott és kutatott. A Szegedi Tudományegyetem az egyik legkiválóbb magyar egyetem, minden jelentős nemzetközi rangsor a világelitben tartja számon. 30 ezer hallgató tanul itt, s kitűnő az egyetemi élet. Könyvtárunk a világ 50 legszebb bibliotékája között szerepel, az ennek otthont adó Tanulmányi és Információs Központ pedig igazi közösségi tér – mutatta be az SZTE-t a rektorhelyettes, aki azt kívánta a fiataloknak, érezzék jól magukat Szegeden, fedezzék fel a várost és a magyar kultúrát, tegyenek szert nálunk új barátokra.

Orientation Week

In my quality of Vice-Rector for International Relations and on behalf of the Rector and the management of the University of Szeged, it is my pleasure to welcome you, dear Erasmus students, American guest students and Hungarian mentor students, who represent the Erasmus Student Network and the Students’ Union, on the opening ceremony of the Orientation Week organized by the International Mobility Center.

 

I am convinced that the continuous understanding and preserving of the values of the European culture are essential not only for the European community as a whole but also for us as individuals, in our everyday lives. The University of Szeged is highly dedicated to this mission, and that is why our university is proud of its international activity and cooperation networks, of the continuously increasing number of its incoming foreign students and professors, as well as of its recognized academic and research achievements abroad. Furthermore, that is also why our Institution has been participating in the ERASMUS program for fifteen years.

 

In fact, the ERASMUS program started at the University of Szeged in 1998 when, in the first year, we received 8 students. In comparison to that, in this spring semester 135 incoming students can start or continue their studies at our faculties. 128 of them will be ERASMUS students coming from 18 countries, 60 cities and 68 universities. 42 of them have already been here in the first semester, too, and now they will continue their studies together with the 86 ERASMUS newcomers, as well as with those 7 Americans who arrived to Szeged from the Washburn University, Kansas, within the Transatlantic Dual Degree program.

 

Based on all that, we could say that the University of Szeged is becoming a real „melting pot” again: a colorful place where students from all kinds of nationalities can meet. In fact, when you walk around in town, do not wonder if you hear foreign language words, for example – to mention the order of the nationalities from where the biggest number of ERASMUS students have arrived this time – in Turkish, Rumanian, French; or if you meet groups of students coming from various other countries, for example from Slovakia, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria and so on.

And what can we say about the University, the studies you can carry out here, and Szeged itself?

I can assure you that you have made a good choice when you have decided to come to Szeged: our institution is one of the best and most important universities in Hungary, with prestigious positions in the university world rankings, with its twelve faculties, with nearly 30 thousand students and an excellent university life! Not to mention the University Library which is one of those fifty libraries in the world where students can spend their time in a really useful and comfortable way: that is, where they can find and read important books, study, discuss problems and – maybe even more important – meet and talk with their friends.

 

But maybe it is unnecessary that I talk too much about these things: during this week you will get more information and help from my colleagues, the Hungarian teachers and students, than what I can share with you now. Apart from that, you will also have the chance to experience the life and culture in the “City of Sunshine” (however cold and cloudy it is now, the spring is coming, and Szeged will get alive soon, believe me...).

So, to keep it short, let me simply wish you a pleasant and memorable stay in Szeged and at our University!

Accomplish your studies successfully, discover our country, our culture and find new friends in Szeged!
