Computer Science (MSc)

About the programme

The aim of the programme is to train computer scientists who can develop, create, apply, implement and operate IT systems at an advanced level either individually or as a team member. Furthermore, our programme provides the cooperative and modelling skills required to solve and research IT related problems, and ensures the solid theoretical background necessary to pursue PhD studies.

The basic theoretical fields are Foundations of Computing, Graph theory, and Analysis. These fields are foundational for further, more practice-oriented studies, including Software technology (Advanced programming, Program systems development, Software development, Web technologies, Parallel programming), Image processing, and Artificial Intelligence (Machine learning, Data mining). Research areas cover Foundations of Computing, Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Image processing, Optimisation and Software engineering. Our graduates pursue careers in Information Technology.

Level of the programme: Master of Science

Duration of the programme: 4 semesters

Registered in: EU

Credits: 120

SZTE Experience

GloriaGloria Kafui Esi Zodanu - Faculty of Science and Informatics

I’m a Ph.D. student from Ghana and enrolled in a scholarship program. I heard about the university for the first time from a friend as a peaceful and friendly place to be. Indeed, the city of Szeged is a quiet, and peaceful place to live. My supervisor and HOD’S approach to teaching gives me a better insight and understanding of the program. The city is very friendly, and I go shopping and walking in my free time. The Dom square is a magnificent landmark, and the surrounding buildings are excellent reference points of a branded city of natural beauty. The most attractive place for me in Szeged is the zoo. Hungary is a beautiful country with the rivers such as the Danube, Tisza and the surrounding bridges. My expectations of the university and study environment keep improving by the day, and I’m delighted. I will recommend the university to because of the quality educational system for career development.

I heard about Stipendium Hungaricum from a fellow countryman. I would love to teach at a university one day, but a Doctorate degree is often required in order to do so. That is why I came to Szeged, where I am currently working on my doctoral thesis in educational science – my special field of interest is scientific literacy of students. Life is completely different in Namibia; it is mostly a rural country and agriculture is still hardly mechanised and many homesteads in villages in the countryside are built of wood. The weather is totally different from the one in Szeged, the cold and icy weather caught me by surprise after returning from Christmas holiday, I didn’t have proper shoes so my feet were constantly freezing.
